Why is it important to evaluate the source and validity of the information found on a Web site, for accurate information. Anyone can make or post to a web page. Your job is to sort out the good from the bad.

Technology Research Tools
-Students use technology to locate, evaluate and collect information from a variety of sources.
-Research and evaluate the accuracy, relevance, appropriateness, comprehensiveness, and bias of electronic information sources concerning real work problems.

Instructions
Using Kathy Schrock’s Critical Evaluation Tool, select a website and evaluate it. Please print the form bring it to class or save the form and email it to me as an attachment to todd.tomlinson@logan-elm.k12.oh.us.

The finished product should have the same “look”:

Copy the Pumpkin King 2 image to you H drive. This image is located at: L:\Tomlinson\Pumpkin King

Colorize the image and make 4 different variations. When you are ready to put them all together, make a new image 4 inches x 4 inches at 72dpi resolution. Have fun and be creative.

Save the file to the L:\Tomlinson\Pumpkin King\P2 or P10 using your lastname.firstname. Make sure you save a copy to your H drive!

First, let us take a short quiz. You can find the quiz here. This is a Google Docs Quiz, make sure you answer all the questions!

Then, make sure PhotoStory 3 is installed on your computer….take a few minutes to “play” around with the software. If you need some help, visit the PhotoStory website.

The Assignment:

Students work collaboratively in teams using Microsoft Photo Story to create a multimedia presentation about wikis, blogs, podcasts, and webcasts. Students may include Web 2.0 topics that they use or would like to know more about in their presentation. Each team will research a topic, locate appropriate images for their topic, title each image, narrate each image, add a transition (custom motion), create background music, and save it. Each team will project their presentation to the class.

Facilities project – use the photos on the L drive in the folder Tomlinson/BuildingPictures to create a slide show. Use the site, http://www.onetruemedia.com/ to create the show using text and music. You should have at least 30 pictures to tell the story of Logan Elm High School.

What is Web 2.0?
Web 2.0 refers to the second generation of the Web, which enables people with no specialized technical knowledge to create their own websites, to self-publish, create and upload audio and video files, share photos and information and complete a variety of other tasks.

Examples of Web 2.0 Sites

Part One:
Choose one of the tools on this site, http://cogdogroo.wikispaces.com/Dominoe+50+Ways, to create a story using the building pictures provided on the L drive. The pictures are in the folder named: BuildingPictures.

Part Two:
Use a different tool to tell a story of your choice. It can be a hobby, sports, a pet, your family or friends…..
