PERSONAL WEB SITE PROJECT 

I.        The purpose of this assignment is to create a personal website using Microsoft FrontPage authoring software.  You may create your page to your own specifications but I would encourage you to follow acceptable guidelines and good design theory.  Feel free to express yourself as you wish so long as you do not violate school policies. 

Requirements     

  • minimum of 14 pages with working links to and from the home page
  • include a color scheme with a background color or image
  • include images appropriate size for page
  • thumbnail links to larger images if appropriate
  • include external links to relates sites
  • all files must be in your directory on the H drive, your grade will be lowered if you have broken links (the red x where pictures should appear).
  • Include all PhotoShop Elements Activities (Magazine Cover, Postcard, , GeoShape 1 and 2 Activity, Movie Poster, Me Collage other projects)
  • Include all FP topics – image swap, image restore, jump menu, photo gallery, etc. 

You can focus on your hobbies, sports, bands, or whatever.  We should learn something about you through the web page. 

***SAVE YOUR WEB SITE TO YOUR H drive and burn a copy of it to a CD.  You will turn in the CD at the end of the class.

Microsoft FrontPage 2003 Workshop

We will begin learning about Microsoft FrontPage 2003.  To do this you will be going through some online tutorials located at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/training/CR061832701033.aspx.  You will be responsible for the following:

  • Create a Web site with Frontpage
  • Hyperlinks I: The Basics
  • Hyperlinks II: Link bars and image maps
  • Work with Graphics in FrontPage
  • HTML Tables I: The Basics

Surf the Web and identify a personal, organizational, and commercial Web site that impresses you in a positive manner.  Print the home page of each Web site, identify the URL.  Discuss what impressed you about the sits by responding to the following;

a.       Describe the design elements.
b.      Identify the valuable information you found, explaining how it was presented – for example photos, videos, text, or sound.
c.       Rate ease of use.
d.      Identify one feature for each Web site that could be added to improve the Web site and explain how and why the feature would improve it.

Plan to share one site with the class

Introduction to Web Design
End of 9 weeks and Final Exam project.Creative Assignment – Visit this site: http://www.photoshopmosaic.com/Photoshop-tutorials/1 and review the tutorials.  Some are printed and some are in video format.  If you want to hear the videos you may need to bring your headphones.  Please email me at loganelm@loganelm.net the link and title of the tutorial you select by Thursday, May 29.  Level of difficulty will determine grade.

You will need to choose one of the tutorials to complete.  Save the final project to your website along with the link to the tutorial. Also…..you will need to turn in on CD your final website with all links working.  Remember to verify all files are on the CD before deleting anything from your H drive.  If you do not have a CD, you may purchase one for $1.00.  Label the CD with your first and last name.BE SURE TO TEST YOUR WEBPAGE FROM THE CD BEFORE DELETING FILES FROM YOUR H DRIVE!

Selective Coloring

Today in Intro to Web we learned the Photoshop technique of selective coloring.

  • Open a photograph to use for this technique
  • Click on the Create Adjustment Layer icon at the bottom of the layers palette.  Choose Hue/Saturation option from the list.
  • Set the Saturation to -100
  • Select the Brush Tool - in the options bar and select the 35px round soft edge brush
  • Set your foreground color to black
  • Make sure you adjustment layer is active
  • Paint the area of the picture you colored

We have several teachers using blogs at LEHS to post their homework assignments and the need to notify parents came up during our parent teacher conferences.  A solution we are going to test is www.feedmailer.net  You sign up for a free account, enter the feeds you want sent to your email account and select the frequency.  Let’s see if it works!
