Welcome back and I hope you had a restful break!
For the next week we will be working on our nine week’s project - Global Warming. We will begin the project by watching 2 videos on the subject. The first is a documentary entitled, An Inconvenient Truth. This documentary was written by Al Gore and gives a very good overview about Global Warming. The second is a trade movie, The Day After Tomorrow, and is a depiction of what Hollywood believes would happen if Global Warming occurs. Once we have watched both videos, we will be writing a paper in class in which you will argue your viewpoint about Global Warming. I will give you these guidelines next week and will post them here also. Your paper will be due on or before January 15th.
Upcoming:
1. Permission slips for The Day after Tomorrow are due by January 8th. No permission slip = no movie.
2. Binder Check papers due by January 8th also. I will give you this information on Friday.
3. Global Warming paper due January 15th. Information to be given to you on Monday.

This week in science we will be doing an activity called “Tracking A Hurricane”. Because of this activity, there will be no homework this week.
On Monday, December 17th, the students turned in their “Sleuths” (I will grade these over Winter Break so check Engrade for your score.) and we took a vocabulary quiz over Section 3-2. The quiz grade will be posted by Tuesday morning.
When we return from break, we will do the section on reading weather maps and then will begin our 9 weeks project on Global Warming. Parents - I will be sending home a permission slip with your child on Friday, January 4th which will allow them to watch the movie “The Day After Tomorrow” in class. This permission slip must be signed and returned by Tuesday, January 8th. More to come on this.
Have a safe and enjoyable Winter Break and I will see you all next year!

Hello all! I am now entering a new phase of technology — the blog! So, please be patient with me. I will use this site mainly to post upcoming assignments for the week.
We are currently finishing a section on Storms. On Friday, 12/14 the students will be given a packet of worksheets to complete in class. They should have their vocabulary list for Section 3-2 with them this weekend. We will have a quiz over these words on Monday. Please make sure that your child studies.
After the quiz on Monday we will be doing an in-class project called “Tracking A Hurricane” . The students will be given hurricane movement points to plot and asked to issue Hurricane watches and warnings. They will also be asked to issue evacuation orders for certain areas along the hurricane’s path. This project will take 2 days to complete, so you will not see homework next week.
Science Sleuths for this chapter are also due on Monday. Your child received a complete list of the sleuths on Tuesday and had time in class to work on them.
Have a safe and restful weekend! Snow, snow stay away!
