Yesterday we experienced the induction of a fine group of students into the National Honor Society! Congratulations to those fine folks and Mrs. Wagner their adviser.  Also, the student body did an excellent job of sitting quietly to honor this group of students!  Bravo students of Logan Elm!!

On a side note: I wore a tie yesterday.  Hopefully you all noticed.  (it was not a clip-on either)  I worked with a guy once who wore a clip-on tie and it only came down about half way.  It looked absolutely ridiculous…and I told him so!  Silly Stevo!

Teaching

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

I am really excited to be teaching a brief lesson on genocide this Wednesday in Mr. Brusco’s classes.  Although the subject matter is not uplifting, it is a subject that needs to be conveyed to every generation so we can prevent it to the best of our ability.  Genocide is the deliberate destruction of a group of people based on political stance, ethnic background, religion, etc.  It has occurred far too often in the history of the world.  The recent genocide in the Sudan has once again brought this harsh reality to the masses.  Once again we are asked to intervene, but are we?  Please inform yourselves!  Please help make others aware!  Many voices coming together can impact the world…which means you can impact the world!  Do your part!

March is Slipping Away!

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

Well, it is officially spring now and the month of March is almost gone.  I am excited about this because April is bound to bring some warm weather!  Also, now that we are in the last nine weeks summer looks closer and closer!  I don’t mean to wish away the spring, but have you thought about your summer plans?  I, of course, will be spending a lot of time with my kids/family.  One cool project I am helping with is a log cabin!  My brother and I are going to reconstruct a cabin that has been in our family for about 100 years.  We tore it down three years ago and now we have decided to build it on my dad’s land in Jackson.  Should be both a challenge and a good time!  I also have started creating my summer reading list!!!!  Hopefully you have done the same!  It is always cool to set some goals for the summer.   Until then we will enjoy the spring weather!

Also, the High School library will be closed during the month of July.

Bring on the Minivan!

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

Well, I am officially an old man!  Why you may ask??  Because I am excited about buying a minivan.  No more dreams of sports cars or expensive SUV’s - I want the minivan!!!!!  This represents a significant change in my status as a human being, but I am okay with it.  Right now two sliding doors with comfortable room for seven sounds great!  The only thing that scares me is what is next????  I can handle the minivan but will I turn into my dad soon or is there still time to be semi-cool?  (no offense, dad)  I guess I will have to wait and see.  Hopefully after this weekend I will be able to add VanMan to my list of names!  Wish me luck, America!

Presidential Election!

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

Whether you like it or not the presidential election is right around the corner!  I know mudslinging, commercials, and debates can become tiresome, but these are historic elections that influence our lives.  I encourage all readers to research the candidates and where they stand on different issues even if you are not of voting age.  They will most likely make decisions that will impact your lives in one way or another!  The only personal opinion I will give on this blog is to realize that all candidates are human and have strengths and weaknesses.  There is no “perfect” candidate (unfortunately).  Also, remember that we as Americans have the power to change anything we do not like - if we work together!  So, get out there and do a little research!

The Blog is Back!!!

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

It is grand to be back on the blog scene after many moons of being de-blogged by some technical difficulties!  Technology is super, but yet it is also frustrating at times!  It’s all water under the bridge now and we can feel relief and joy knowing that better blogging days are ahead!

So much has happened since I blogged last!  I am reading Oil by Upton Sinclair.  The quote of the day is back up and running.  I lost seven pounds, but found three of them (bummer).  I went to the Arnold Classic and checked out some martial arts competitions.  I met a UFC fighter named Houston Alexander!  I experienced two warm days that led me to the local park with my kids.  My brother tore his achillies tendon.  I took some sweet naps, dreamed some cool dreams, laughed with friends, played with my kids, ate some yummy fattening food, did laundry, and tried to reason with a three year old!!!  Life is grand!  Can you tell I am happy?  It is March and that means that warmer days are coming.  So take heart my fellow Ohioans…the days ahead are full of belly laughs!!!

Wow!

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

My apologies to all homosapiens everywhere!!!  My excuses for not blogging for a while include: the server was down, the holidays, wearing mittens (seriously, try to type with mittens - it is impossible), and I am a CIA agent who lost his memory for a month due to a top secret training (actually that was the Bourne Identity Series).  Well, all that is behind us now and we can move on blogging our way into the future!  January is a bit of blurrrrrrr!  It started out going really fast and then I think someone put it in slow mo.  It is now February and we get to celebrate Presidents and Valentines!!!!  Life has been good to me lately….my kids/family, job, and jujitsu have all been going well.  I haven’t knocked out as many books as I would have liked but that is what February is for!!!! (ended a sentence in a preposition - and it felt good too!)  Needless to say I have been keeping it real!  Hopefully you are too!  I have a student in advanced web page who is going to get the old word and quote of the day going again….so be looking for that again!  Old Media Man is still kicking and learning!  Have a great day fellow earthlings!
