I read a great book last week called Copper Sun! (by Sharon Draper) It is a story about a young girl, Amari, from Africa in the early 17oo’s who is kidnapped and sold into slavery in the American Colonies. Amari’s story, although fictional, represents the struggles that many went through as the slave trade flourished in the Colonies. It is a great piece of historical fiction that will leave you thinking! Come in the library and check it out!
