Senior Awards Assembly

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

Congrats to all who received scholarships, awards, and recognition!!  I have to give a special shout out to Gary “Gar Bear” Garrett, one of our library TA’s.  Gary brought home an award in sweet library style!!!  Way to go great Gary Garrett (sweet aliteration).  Also, as you all found out I didn’t join the circus!  I just couldn’t leave the comforts of the library.  I know you all understand.  Other news:  I saw Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian the other night and it was awesome!  I give it four thumbs up…which is impressive and impossible, but I think you get the point!  Anyway, keep it real and read books like there is no tomorrow!

Circus!!

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

I am going to my first circus on Thursday! I am quite sure that the circus is in my blood! I yearn for the trapeze, the roar of the lion, the crack of the whip, the taste of cotton candy, and the smell of multiple animals stored in small stinky cages! Oh, the life of the circus!!! It calls my name……”media man, media man.” I am running to you Circus! I am coming this Thursday!!!!!! So, if I do not return please do not think less of me or mourn my leave…..I am where I belong. Remember what I have taught you……fiction is on the left and nonfiction is on the right, no games on the computers, and brush your teeth!

Chances are I will be back on Friday.

One little, two little, three little Homo sapiens…

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

I wish I could explain why the title above came to my mind, but I cannot.

Well, students of all ages, it is my pleasure to announce that I am going to the circus in May.  They will probably ask me to stay and be a part of the show, but I am dedicated to the library!  Although I do have some work experience with tigers, lions, and seals.  I have never been to the circus and I am quite excited!  I will make sure I let you all know how it goes!!!

Yesterday we experienced the induction of a fine group of students into the National Honor Society! Congratulations to those fine folks and Mrs. Wagner their adviser.  Also, the student body did an excellent job of sitting quietly to honor this group of students!  Bravo students of Logan Elm!!

On a side note: I wore a tie yesterday.  Hopefully you all noticed.  (it was not a clip-on either)  I worked with a guy once who wore a clip-on tie and it only came down about half way.  It looked absolutely ridiculous…and I told him so!  Silly Stevo!

Teaching

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

I am really excited to be teaching a brief lesson on genocide this Wednesday in Mr. Brusco’s classes.  Although the subject matter is not uplifting, it is a subject that needs to be conveyed to every generation so we can prevent it to the best of our ability.  Genocide is the deliberate destruction of a group of people based on political stance, ethnic background, religion, etc.  It has occurred far too often in the history of the world.  The recent genocide in the Sudan has once again brought this harsh reality to the masses.  Once again we are asked to intervene, but are we?  Please inform yourselves!  Please help make others aware!  Many voices coming together can impact the world…which means you can impact the world!  Do your part!

March is Slipping Away!

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

Well, it is officially spring now and the month of March is almost gone.  I am excited about this because April is bound to bring some warm weather!  Also, now that we are in the last nine weeks summer looks closer and closer!  I don’t mean to wish away the spring, but have you thought about your summer plans?  I, of course, will be spending a lot of time with my kids/family.  One cool project I am helping with is a log cabin!  My brother and I are going to reconstruct a cabin that has been in our family for about 100 years.  We tore it down three years ago and now we have decided to build it on my dad’s land in Jackson.  Should be both a challenge and a good time!  I also have started creating my summer reading list!!!!  Hopefully you have done the same!  It is always cool to set some goals for the summer.   Until then we will enjoy the spring weather!

Also, the High School library will be closed during the month of July.

Bring on the Minivan!

by jlloyd in Uncategorized

Well, I am officially an old man!  Why you may ask??  Because I am excited about buying a minivan.  No more dreams of sports cars or expensive SUV’s - I want the minivan!!!!!  This represents a significant change in my status as a human being, but I am okay with it.  Right now two sliding doors with comfortable room for seven sounds great!  The only thing that scares me is what is next????  I can handle the minivan but will I turn into my dad soon or is there still time to be semi-cool?  (no offense, dad)  I guess I will have to wait and see.  Hopefully after this weekend I will be able to add VanMan to my list of names!  Wish me luck, America!
