The library media center has some new books in for you to check out! I will now express my joy from new books through a series of haikus:
1.) New books are clean, nice
They make me happy all day
Library fun time.
2.) Lunch time blues, oh no

joy joy joy oh joy
3.) New books, new smells, yes
Colors so bright and fluffy
Bennett’s face bruised, red
4.) Blog nog book nook yes

cart mart biblioteka
I hope you enjoyed my poems about new books! Please come and Czech them out.

I saw a girl the other day with a t-shirt that read “Prague” in large letters and then underneath it were the words “Check it out.” Do you get it??? Czechoslovakia - Czech - Check. I would love to have that t-shirt! It is the simple things in life that are so funny!

Today is election day in the United States of America! I have already voted this morning. It was a fine experience because I did not have to wait in line for too long. I was number 9 in my precinct! (I feel honored to be number 9) Hopefully those who are eligible to vote will go out and do so today! Most importantly though, I hope people are informed and put some thought into who or what they vote for. We live in a great country with a lot of freedoms that most of us take for granted everyday!!! Regardless of what you have been told your vote does count! Every election day local issues and even state issues are often decided by a few votes. Even on the federal level there have been times in our history where a few hundred votes have determined who took office! Be informed and vote!

So, I haven’t excelled at posting on my blog thus far in the 2008-09 school year! My apologies to the four and half people who read my blog….just joking, there are at least seven! (and yes, my mom does count!) The library has been a happening place lately. This week we have some sweet OGT’ers marking multiple choice questions and writing extended responses. You have to love the extended responses with their four parts and all!! Mrs. Elliott and I have been working up another book order so if you have any suggestions stop by and let us know!!! I am currently reading The Last Lectureby the late Randy Pausch. It is a very inspiring book and I recommend it to homosapiens everywhere! I am also constantly reading various books on church history. I have to keep the old brain sharp or at least not dull. You know they say your brain feels like a sponge. I don’t know who “they” are, but “they” say a lot of things. Of course, I have never touched a brain so I guess I will take their word for it. I just hope my does not feel like a dried out sponge, because I am thinking that is not so cool! I want to be a useful sponge! Enough of sponges! Sponges are expelled for the rest of this conversation.
It is almost November, which begins my birthday month. Getting older is weird. You will know what I mean when you get there. I don’t get freaked out about getting older because I know a lot of cool older guys who have a healthy supply of wisdom and sweet comebacks. I want to be like those guys! The ability to rattle off useless knowledge about things and tell stories that no one believes….that is what I have to look forward to! No worries…every season of life has its pros! I guess the best advice is to enjoy every step up the ladder!

Well, many of you may have wondered where I have been. I haven’t posted in a while primarily because I couldn’t remember how to type, but never fear I have once again remembered what I learned in the 8th grade!!! Typing skills! So things should be different as long as I don’t leave my PC at the park again. I don’t know why I took it there anyway! Enough of this nonsense…..let’s talk about the summer! The summer was superb, but very busy. I spent a lot of time this summer dancing with my children. There is one problem with having a “dance party” as my three year old puts it, and that is we all dance in the living room where outsiders can see us - or I should say me! While a dad dancing with his two children acting silly is acceptable. A dad who appears to be dancing alone because the window is just high enough that outsiders cannot see my kids is not. Oh well, let them scorn for having fun!! I am happy to be back in school! So far the year is going well and it seems most of the young folk are enjoying themselves at LE. Anyone out there read any good books lately? If you have stop by the library and let me know what you read! I love hearing new suggestions for books! I hope you all have a wonderful school year!
I smell pumpkins!

Congrats to all who received scholarships, awards, and recognition!! I have to give a special shout out to Gary “Gar Bear” Garrett, one of our library TA’s. Gary brought home an award in sweet library style!!! Way to go great Gary Garrett (sweet aliteration). Also, as you all found out I didn’t join the circus! I just couldn’t leave the comforts of the library. I know you all understand. Other news: I saw Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian the other night and it was awesome! I give it four thumbs up…which is impressive and impossible, but I think you get the point! Anyway, keep it real and read books like there is no tomorrow!

I am going to my first circus on Thursday! I am quite sure that the circus is in my blood! I yearn for the trapeze, the roar of the lion, the crack of the whip, the taste of cotton candy, and the smell of multiple animals stored in small stinky cages! Oh, the life of the circus!!! It calls my name……”media man, media man.” I am running to you Circus! I am coming this Thursday!!!!!! So, if I do not return please do not think less of me or mourn my leave…..I am where I belong. Remember what I have taught you……fiction is on the left and nonfiction is on the right, no games on the computers, and brush your teeth!
Chances are I will be back on Friday.
