Wedding planning has
been the focus recently in the Work and Family Life department at Logan
Elm High School. Mrs. Strait’s Project Life and Lifestyle Wellness
classes participated in a mock wedding so that the students could see
how much organization and hard work is necessary to stage such an event.
The wedding planning experience created an avenue in which to teach
budgeting and money management, planning parties and menus, selecting
music and writing thank-you notes. The “wedding” took place on
Thursday, April 24th in the McDowell auditorium. Abby Dille,
from Royal Gardens Bridal Supply donated the use of several “rentable”
items from her shop on Route 361. She also donated her time and
expertise to transform the auditorium into a beautiful setting.
Uniquely Yours, bridal and prom store in Circleville, provided all the
formalwear for the entire wedding party. Pastor Kevin Quincel of Salem
United Methodist Church performed the ceremony and educated the students
about wedding ceremony procedure and its significance. The bridal party
members were Hilary Clifton-bride, Ryan Berry-groom, Meashia Stahr-maid
of honor, Nyles Speakman-best man, Lindsay Rittinger and Kaitlin
Jones-bridesmaids and Hannah Taylor-flower girl. Guest book attendant
was Morgan Trimble. Since Mrs. Cooper’s That’s Life class has been
studying cake decorating, the students were able to use their newly
acquired skills to prepare, decorate and serve the wedding cakes.
Alisha Hurst and Breanne Hale assisted with the reception and other
ceremony details. The Work and Family Life Department is a satellite
program of the Pickaway Ross CTC.
